MARY WRIGHT

Member of Land Loss Prevention Project Board of Directors for 25+ years; currently serving as the Treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee. Co-founding Omuteko Gawamaziima, an African-centered charter school in Durham, NC from 1998 – 2008. Professor at North Carolina Central University School of Law. I grew up in a Black farming community in Duplin County in southeastern, North Carolina, and I continue to witness the demise of a once-thriving farming community as a result of the ongoing loss of the Black-owned farms. It is especially for this reason that I value and support the essential work of the staff of the Land Loss Prevention Project.
