DAWN BATTISTE

Dawn Battiste is the Deputy Director of the LLPP (Land Loss Prevention Project) and manages its Litigation Unit, coordinating and supervising the activity of the Land Loss Prevention Project’s attorneys in providing service to clients and communities statewide through direct legal representation, technical assistance, and outreach, and participating in policy innovation. Ms. Battiste served as Council member and committee chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Solo, Small Firm & General Practice Section and is past chair of the General Practice Section. She recently completed terms on the board of the Indian Land Tenure Foundation. She is a member of the N.C. Natural Capital Investment Fund Advisory Committee. She is also a member of the Craven-Everett Inn of Court and recently was elected Treasurer. Ms. Battiste is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.A., M.A., J.D.) and a dyed-in-the-wool fan of all sports where a ram might show up. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and most outdoor adventures, inclusive of sea canoe and a Western mountain journey with a jacket as a rope.
