ASHTON COOKE

Ashton Cooke is a Junior Staff Attorney at the Land Loss Prevention Project, where through estate planning, foreclosure prevention, and business entity formation, she assists financially distressed farmers and property owners in protecting their land ownership. Prior to joining Land Loss Prevention Project in 2018, Ms. Cooke earned her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law and her B.A. in Journalism and Women’s and Gender Studies from the University of North Carolina. During her time in law school, Ms. Cooke focused her attention on public interest law and trauma-informed counseling through her advocacy in the areas of immigration and domestic and sexual violence. Ms. Cooke was published in Volume 15 of the First Amendment Law Review for her article, “The Right to Post: How North Carolina’s Revenge Porn Statute Can Escape Running Afoul of the First Amendment Post-Bishop” and later served as the Editor-in-Chief for Volume 16.
